How To Calculate Taxes
PROPERTY TAX CALCULATOR |
 |
To calculate the tax on your property start with the APPRAISED VALUE (typically a little less than purchase price.)We will use $200,000 as an example. The ASSESSED VALUE is $50,000 (25% of $200,000) TAX RATE has been set by your county commission at $3.38 per hundred of assessed value. To figure the annual tax simply multiply the assessed value ($50,000) by the tax rate (3.38 per hundred dollars assessed).
The link to the left will calculate this for you after you have determined the tax rate.

Tennessee calculates property taxes by utilizing APPRAISED VALUE, ASSESSMENT RATIO, ASSESSED VALUE, and TAX RATE.
In order to determine the tax rate for your specific county, just click the link to the TN Tax Rate Chart to your left and select your county and/or city. Keep in mind that there are city AND county taxes. If you purchase or live in the city limits you will pay BOTH city and county taxes and will need to calculate your tax base from the TOTAL tax rate.
